Inspiration Points for Fifth Edition Games

Take control of your 5e game!

In the core 5th edition rules set, inspiration is something you either have, or you don’t. In this alternate system, you instead have a set of Inspiration Points which you can use as you choose. These points, however, do not “refresh” and once they’re used, they’re gone. You don’t get to restore your pool of Inspiration Points (IPs) from taking a short or long rest. At their core, Inspiration Points are similar to the base Inspiration rule, but you can have more than one, and you can do a bit more with them.

Inspiration Points for Fifth Edition is the first 5e-compatible release by Elf Lair Games under the Open Game License. In here, you'll find a wealth of new player options for your game. As you adventure, you can spend Inspiration points to:

  • Improve die rolls with advantage
  • Impose disadvantage on foes
  • Spend hit dice to heal on the fly
  • Gain special plot breaks when the chips are down
  • Improve your Armor Class temporarily
  • Go into a righteous rage, improving your combat abilities for a whole combat
  • Gain extra actions or reactions
